Calm the worry

Day 1 of 7

Meet your worry

About 6 min

Learn

Learn

Worry is your mind trying to protect you. It scans for danger, even when you are only sitting with a cup of tea or coffee on a Sunday evening. The trouble starts when the scanning never switches off. Today we do not try to fight or stop worry. We simply notice it and give it a name, like 'planning worry' or 'what-if worry'. Many people find that naming a feeling takes a little of its force away, because you move from being inside the feeling to watching it. You do not need to be good at this. A rough label is fine. Over the week you will learn that worries come in different kinds, and each kind needs a different response. Today is only about noticing what yours sounds like.
