In one study of 464 people, checking an ex's profile was linked with more distress, more longing and less personal growth. Many people find that a break from contact and from watching the profile helps. You could mute, unfollow or archive, rather than block in anger, if that feels easier. Do what keeps you steady. There is no single rule. When the urge to check or message arrives, it is strong, but it usually rises and then eases. Pause, move away from your phone and let the wave pass. If you slip and check, that does not mean you have failed. Simply begin again.
Practice
